1. Criminal Defence

You should promptly retain my services if:
- you are arrested and charged with any of the offences listed below
- you are held overnight for a bail hearing and need me to facilitate your release
- you are contacted by police or a private investigator in relation to any allegations against you of a criminal or regulatory nature
- you are charged with a Criminal Code (Canada) offence – e.g. assault, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, mischief, break and enter, theft, robbery, use or possession of a firearm or imitation firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, weapons dangerous, and so on.
- you are charged with an offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act – e.g., possession of a drug such as marijuana, heroine, cocaine, crack, and so on.
- you are charged with an offence under the Firearms Act
- you wish to appeal a court’s decision respecting conviction or sentence or an appeal pursuant to the Provincial Offences Act
2. Immigration Law [top]
I restrict my practice to cases involving deportation on the ground of criminality. You should promptly retain my services if:
- you are served with a removal order because you have been found guilty of a criminal offence
3. Quasi-Criminal Defence [top]
You should promptly retain my services if:
- you are charged with an offence under the Highway Traffic Act
- you are charged with a municipal by-law offence
- you are charged with an offence under the Provincial Offences Act, Environmental Protection Act, or labour safety legislation

4. Employment Law [top]
You should retain my services if:
- the fundamental terms of your employment contract have been violated. For example, if there has been a significant reduction in responsibilities, pay and benefits, or a significant change in work hours or location, you may have been constructively dismissed
- notice, verbal or written, that your employment has been terminated. You should obtain advice as to the termination and/or severance package to which you are entitled before you sign off on it
- there are rumours that your company may be closing down
- there are rumours that your company may be downsizing
- you are putting up with abusive, harassing or otherwise unsafe working conditions
5. Family Law [top]
You should retain my services if:
- you are thinking about separating from your spouse, whether or not you are married or living in a common law spousal relationship
- you are already separated from your spouse but have no formal agreement of court order as to custody, access, child support, spousal support, property division, equalization of net family properties and possession of your matrimonial home
- if you thinking of getting married or living with a significant other and you need a cohabitation agreement or marriage contract
- if you require assistance at family mediation
- you require court representation, litigation, separation agreements
- you wish to appeal a court’s decision respecting a family law matter
6. Estate Law [top]
You should retain my services if:
- you would like to have a Will drafted
- you would like to have a power of attorney for personal care or property drafted
- you would like to be appointed as guardian of the person or property of a person who is mentally incapacitated
- you have been served with court papers regarding an estate or power of attorney
- you wish to appeal a court decision regarding a decision over an estate, power of attorney or guardianship application
7. Services of a Notary Public & Commissioner of Oaths [top]
You should retain my services if:
- you require a document to be notarized as a true copy
- you are taking an Oath or Affirmation for Affidavits and Statutory Declarations

NOTE:
You must bring the original document to be signed or notarized, not a photocopy.
You must sign the document in front of the Notary Public, after producing valid Ontario or Canadian government photo ID.
